5 Super Rugby Forwards set to make their mark on Test Rugby

 With Super Rugby taking a break for the June Internationals and the British and Irish Lions Tour we have a look at the forwards who will be packing down for the first time in Test Rugby. 

  

Felipe Arregui (Jaguares & Argentina)

22-year-old Felipe Arregui is the only uncapped forward in Daniel Hourcade's squad to face England.


The front rower earned his call-up following 7 impressive performances for the Jaguares.

The powerful scrummager has made 35 tackles and carried the ball 25 times, so far this season.


Yusuke Niwai (Sunwolves & Japan)

Yusuke Niwai has started 7 of the 12 Sunwolves Super Rugby matches this season and the 25-year-old has really staked his claim for a starting jersey.

Battling the Japanese incumbent, Shota Horie, for a starting position at the Sunwolves, Niwai, got his call up having made 70 tackles and 4 turnovers this season so far.

Richard Hardwick ( Western Force & Australia)

Richard Hardwick is one of nine uncapped players in the Wallabies squad. The Western Force loose forward has played all 13 of his side's Super Rugby matches, scoring his first try against the Hurricanes.

Hardwick made 70 tackles so far this season and has made 196 metres from his 63 carries. 

Lizo Gqoboka (Bulls & South Africa)

This is not the first time Lizo Gqoboka has been called into the Springbok squad but the 27-year-old loosehead prop is yet to make his debut.

Gqoboka has been a standout performer for a struggling Bulls outfit, he has carried the ball over 150 metres this season and has made exactly 50 tackles in his 12 matches.

Having represented the South Africa A side last year Gqoboka will be looking to make the step up against France.

Akira Ioane (Blues & New Zealand)

Having already represented the New Zealand 7s in the World Sevens Series Blues loose forward, Akira Ioane will look to represent his country against the British and Irish Lions.

Ioane was named as an extra player in the All Black squad to face the British and Irish Lions but he has been included in the New Zealand Moari side to face the Lions.has been in fine form with the Blues helping the Auckland-based side claim a historic victory over the Lions.

Ioane has scored 4 tries for the Blues this season and has been just as deadly on defence as on attack making 72 tackles and 9 turnovers
