6 Nations all time leading scorers

5. Leigh Halfpenny

Halfpenny is the only player still playing who makes it into the top five having scored 230 points for Wales. The Fullback made his Six Nations debut in 2009 but it was not until the 2012 Six Nations that Halfpenny became Wales first choice place kicker, and since then he has become one of the most consistent place kickers in World Rugby and is a key member of Wales squad.

4. Chris Paterson

Chris Paterson like Halfpenny was mostly used as a Winger/Fullback and during his Scotland career was able to rack up 406 points. After making his Six Nations debut for Scotland in 2000 he became a regular starter while also becoming the first choice place kicker. Paterson was one of the most reliable kickers in World Rugby, which included him kicking 36 successful kicks for Scotland from August 2007 to June 2008 which at the time was a world record.

3. Stephen Jones

Stephen Jones is the second Welsh player in the overall standings after finishing his Six Nations career with 467 points. After making his Wales debut in 1998, Jones had to wait until the 2002 Six Nations to become Wales first choice Flyhalf. He played a prominent role in Wales Grand Slam success in 2005 where he scored the majority of Wales points and was named as Fly-half of the championship.

2. Jonny Wilkinson

Wilkinson will go down as one of the greatest Fly-halves to have played the game and is unlucky not to be in top spot. He made his debut for England in 1998 and finished his Six Nations career with 486 points. However a succession of injuries disrupted his Six Nations career from 2004-2007 leaving him in second spot. He won’t mind too much though having been part of four championship winning sides in 2000, 2001, 2003(Grand Slam) and 2011

1. Ronan O’Gara

After making his Six Nations debut for Ireland in 2000, O’Gara could not have dreamt that he would go onto become the 6 Nations all time leading scorer. After playing in 13 championships for Ireland he retired with 557 points. There are many great memories of O’Gara but most will remember his drop goal against Wales in 2009 which secured Ireland only their second ever Grand Slam.
