6 Nations Saturday Round-Up

6 Nations Saturday Round-Up
France 10-9 Ireland

France came away with a win that will do wonders for their confidence as they edged out Ireland 10-9.

Ireland lead 9-3 at the break after some good Sexton place kicking, but they suffered 2 serious injury blows with Dave Kearney and Sean O'Brien going off with serious injuries.

The second half started off poor, with neither side lacking any attacking intent and plenty of handling errors.

Neither side could get any attacking play going, and the game really boiled down to a series of scrums on the Irish 5m line with 10 minutes to play.

After a number of resets and French penalties the Irish survived, only to see the ball go wide to Medard to go over.

Guirado named man of the match, in what was in truth, an average game of rugby.

France are still on course for the grandslam, while Ireland look to have lost their grip on the 6 Nations title.

Wales 27-23 Scotland

Wales kept their grandslam hopes alive as they edged out plucky Scotland.

The home side got off to a blistering start in Cardiff, with a Gareth Davies try giving them the lead early on. However there was plenty of controversy around the score as Davies appeared to be offside when claiming the loose ball.

Scotland then took control and struck back with a Tommy Seymour try after a lovely Finn Russell chip.

Scotland took the lead on the stroke of half time through the boot of Greig Laidlaw, leading 13-10.

In the second half Wales raised their game and got two quickfire tries through a barging Jamie Roberts run and some poor Scotland defending which left George North in with ease and the game beyond Scotland.

A superb solo try in the dying moments from Duncan Taylor wasn't enough for the Scots as they succumbed to their second defeat of the campaign.
