Armitage set to capitalise on new rule

Steffon Armitage has been told he must play for France in at least four Sevens World Series (SWS) tournaments this season to be eligible to represent Les Bleus at the 2015 World Cup after the IRB raised the qualification threshold.

The IRB has created a window of opportunity for capped players to switch countries to bring its regulations into line with those of the Olympic Games, which stipulate that all participants must hold a passport for the country they represent.

Armitage, who has made five appearances for England, is in the process of obtaining a French passport and last week
