Ashton & Yarde set to miss out on World Cup
Saracens winger Chris Ashton and Harlequins winger Marland Yarde are set to be cut from England’s squad when Stuart Lancaster trims down his squad.

Both flyers will be passed over with Bath’s Semesa Rokoduguni leading the race to survive having impressed during England’s training camps.

Rokoduguni wasn’t named in England’s initial World Cup squad but was called in after the withdrawal of David Strettle.

Jack Nowell and Anthony Watson were England’s wingers in the Six Nations and appear in pole position to start in September, while Jonny May impressed England head coach Stuart Lancaster significantly during training camp.

Ashton’s good form for Saracens prompted his return to the selection debate but worries over his defence at Test level have been consistent throughout his career.

Yarde meanwhile made an impression last year when he scored two tries in two Tests down in New Zealand, but an underwhelming season with Harlequins has dented his prospects.
