Ashton handed 10 week ban
England and Saracens winger Chris Ashton has been handed a 10 week ban for an eye-gouging incident which occurred during a match against Ulster this weekend.
His ban will end on 28 March, mere days after England are set to complete their Six Nations campaign in France on 19 March.
The judicial officer who ruled on the case initially selected a 12 week ban, adding an additional week as a deterrent against offences of this nature. Taking Ashton's good character and good conduct, he then reduced the ban by two weeks.
Ashton has the right to appeal the decision.
