1. Yamaha Jubilo
Impressively, Jubilo are yet to lose a match this season with 5 straight wins since kicking off with a win against Panasonic Wild Knights in August.
With 24 points, they are ahead of the race and look to win the title for the first time.
2. Suntory Sungoliath
Like Jubilo, Sungoliath have won all of their matches so far this season, accumulating 22 points.
The team is known for being great contenders and have won the title 3 times while also being part of the final playoff three times.
3. Kolbeco Steelers
Losing to Panasonic Wild Knights in Round 2, the Steelers settle on third place with just 19 points.
The team has fallen at the semi-finals a record of 5 times in the past, more semi-final losses than any other team in the Top League.
4. Munakata Sanix Blues
Being demoted from the Top League in the 2003-04 season, Sanix Blues fought for a place back and succeeded in 2005-06.
With 4 wins in 5 games, this performance makes it one of their best seasons as they continue to keep their head above water with 16 points.
5. Panasonic Wild Knights
Surprisingly, the team with the 2nd highest title wins is facing a dark cloud this season with two losses from Round 1 and Round 4, respectively.
They are the 5th best performing team so far and go on to the 2016/17 Top League relegation play-offs.
The final round of league matches will be played on 14 January 2017.
