French lessons must be learnt if cap is to fit


Thirty-five years on, rugby union may have its own Trevor Francis.

In February
1979, when Francis signed for Nottingham Forest, he famously became
football’s first £1 million man.

The way negotiations are escalating, Matt
Giteau, the former Australia fly half, may soon be rugby union’s first euro
equivalent.

Francis’s million was a transfer fee; Giteau’s is a proposed
salary.

The point is that rugby is slowly following football.
