Friday Morning Round Up
Reds re-sign Tui on one year contract

The re-signing of the Japanese forward will ease the loss of No.8 Jake Schatz and recent signing Caleb Timu to season-ending knee ligament injuries.

“I’m really happy to be coming back to the Reds in 2017,” Tui said.

“I was disappointed not be able to contribute as much as I wanted to in my first season with the Reds, so this year has been a rewarding experience, being able to prove to myself and my teammates that I can contribute at this level.

“I came back to Ballymore this year with a goal of playing regular Super Rugby and I’m pleased I’ve been able to do that.

“I see my future at the Reds. I’ve loved my time here so far and I want to keep working hard and contributing to the Reds.”

Rebels lose Laurie Weeks

Weeks sustained a hamstring injury at training ruling him out until June.

“It was at the end of training, so unfortunately he’s out for a period of time,” said coach Tony McGahan.

“He certainly won’t play before the beginning of June.

“It’s nice and easy for us that we bring Jamie Hagan in to the starting side. He’s been gathering time off the bench and going really well, so he’s really excited.

“And hopefully we’ll have three or four players come back for the Brumbies game (on May 13).”

Big South African school rugby weekend ahead

This weekend sees three of South Africa's biggest school rugby festivals happening across the country.  Schools rugby is often where sporting greats are identified so the rugby communities eyes will be on the Wynberg 175 Festival (Cape Town), Wildeklaaver Festival (Kimberley) and Grey College Festival (Port Elizabeth).

All fixtures available here: Schools Festival Fixtures and full time scores will be updated as they become available.
