No Bath move for Armitage

Bath have distanced themselves from a move for Toulon full back Delon Armitage at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old's contract with the European champions expires at the end of the season and he looks to be moving on at the conclusion of that contract.

Armitage has been linked with a move to the Premiership with Bath and also a move to Pro D2 side Lyon who are aiming for promotion. A return to the Premiership with Bath looks very unlikely with the club quashing the rumours.

"We are not in talks with Delon Armitage," a Bath spokesperson said addressing the rumours on Thursday.

That's that then.

Brumbies announce captains for 2016 season

Brumbies have announced that Stephen Moore and Christian Lealilfano have been  appointed co-captains for the 2016 Super Rugby season.

Christian Lealilfano, who signed a deal with the region till 2018 in the week, has expressed his delight at being appointed captain.

“The opportunity to become the 14th captain of the club I joined as a teenager is an incredibly humbling honour,” he said.

“This place has played a big part in my life and in my journey growing up as well. I’m excited about what’s ahead and it’s an absolute privilege to be named co-captain of such an amazing club."

Moore will captain the side for the second year in a row as he gears up for his final season with the Brumbies.

“2016 will be my eighth year playing and living in Canberra, I’ve made a home here and it’s an honour to be able to represent the region in this way,” Moore said.

“We have a strong, enthusiastic playing group locked in for the 2016 season and I am looking forward to working closely with Christian to get the best out of this side every week.”

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham has praised both Moore and Lealilfano, highlighting the fact how they've earned the role.

“Stephen and Christian are exceptional leaders for this group, who have both earned the right to captain the Brumbies,” he said.

“Whether it’s at training, in team meetings or on game day, both players take it upon themselves to lift the rest of the squad when they need it.”
