Geoff Parling set to leave Exeter Chiefs

Ex-British & Irish Lions and England lock Geoff Parling will leave Exeter Chiefs in the summer to join an unnamed Japanese club.

The 33-year-old has made 29 appearances for England and is out of contract at the end of the season. He has agreed a short-term deal with a Japanese Top League side.

Exeter have reported that he is likely to then join a Super Rugby franchise in Australia. Parling joined Exeter in 2015 from Leicester, with whom he won two Premiership titles.

He played 22 times for Exeter this term to helping them reach the play-offs.

“There haven’t been any issues, it’s just that Geoff has had a great opportunity to play a couple of seasons in Japan and Australia,” said Exeter Head Coach Rob Baxter
