Highlanders battle hard to finish with a win over the Reds

The Highlanders have secured their first win of the Super Rugby season by defeating the Queensland Reds 20 -13 in Dunedin tonight.

The Southerner's got off to a strong, positive start and were able to control a lot of the possession and territory.

They did enough good work to put the Reds defence under plenty of pressure early on.

First five Marty Banks in his debut for the franchise stepped up early to knock over a nerve settling penalty and give the home side the early lead.

However the Reds recovered and turned the tables on the Highlanders to test their defence.
