Luke Charteris joins Bath

Racing 92 lock Luke Charteris will leave the French club at the end of the season to link up with Bath next season.

The Welsh international has racked up over 60 international caps, most recently at the World Cup and is playing in his 4th season in France.

“It is such an ambitious club, and that’s a great atmosphere to be joining,” said Charteris.

“They put a lot of emphasis on player development, making sure that everyone is improving no matter how experienced they are, and that is a very exciting environment to be part of. There is some incredible talent in the squad and I’m really looking forward to heading over and getting started.”

Mike Ford, Bath head coach, added: “Luke has been one of Wales’s standout locks in recent years, and had a very good Rugby World Cup.

"He’s a superb athlete at the set-piece and in the loose, has strong leadership qualities and a lot of experience that he can bring to the squad.

"We’re delighted to have one of the best locks in the world join us, and he will help us keep improving and move quickly on to that next level.”

Dan Biggar hails Ospreys Spirit

Ospreys fly-half Dan Biggar paid tribute to his team's spirit during their 34-29 Champions Cup loss at Clermont on Sunday.

Ospreys were 20-3 down at the break but fought back and 10 minutes into the second half got it back to 20-17 with tries from Tipuric and Walker,

Tries from Strettle and Fofana put the result beyond Ospreys with the scores at 34-17 with 5 minutes to go. However 2 tries in 2 minutes from Parry and Habberfield gave the Welsh region not only a losing bonus point but a try bonus point as well.

“What happened is just a huge testament to the boys” said Biggar.

“We’re fully aware we haven’t got the star names of teams like Clermont, Toulon and Saracens but what we have got is a huge amount of spirit.

“Fair play to the boys for sticking at it. It’s the best club atmosphere in the world, an absolutely incredible stadium out here and the boys rose to the challenge. If you'd given us two points beforehand we'd have certainly taken it.

"Looking back on the game we're probably a bit disappointed that we didn't get a win, but all in all we're ecstatic with two points.”
