Premiership Clubs Should Employ Refs, Says Nigel Wray

Premiership referees should be employed by the competition's clubs, rather than the Rugby Football Union, according to Saracens chairman Nigel Wray. Officials for top-flight matches are currently appointed from the RFU's pool of 15 professional referees - the Professional Referees Unit (PRU), which also includes 13 assistant referees. Speaking to BBC Sport, Wray said: "The club game needs to employ its own referees. Their decisions influence the game enormously.
