PRO 12's top 5 signings

PRO 12's top 5 signings

As we get ourselves ready for another season of rugby, we take a look at the top 5 additions to the PRO12.

Plenty of teams have added to their squad with Benneton Treviso being the busiest team in the league, signing 15 new players. Leinster have been the least active in the off season, adding just 4 to their squad.

1. Charles Piutau (Wasps to Ulster)

The All Blacks were not best pleased when they heard that highly rated Charles Piutau was leaving New Zealand shores. The outside back signed a 2 year deal with Ulster last year, but due to the quota of international players being full at the Irish side, Piutau had a year stint at Aviva Premiership side Wasps. Piutau shone in the Wasps side as they reached Aviva Premiership & Champions Cup semi final, Ulster fans will be hoping he can reach the heights he achieved at Wasps.

2. Jonathan Davies (Clermont Auvergne to Scarlets)

The return of the inside centre is a real coup for the Welsh side. One of the best centres in the northern hemisphere when fit, Davies stint in France didn't go to plan with a serious knee injury but an injury free season last year showed glimpses of his best. A good addition to Scarlets and the league.

3. Robbie Henshaw (Connacht to Leinster)

After weeks of speculation over his future, Henshaw finally decided that he would make the switch to inter-provincial rivals Leinster. One of the brightest talents in Ireland, Leinster fans will be licking their lips at the prospect of a Henshaw-Ringrose centre partnership for years to come.

4.Marnitz Boshoff (Lions to Connacht)

A solid signing by Pat Lam's side. Boshoff has spent all of his career in South Africa and has built up some good experience so he should fit into the 10 jersey well in Connacht. Just the one cap for the Springboks, Boshoff was sidelined due to the form of Elliot Janties and will replace AJ MacGinty, who has moved to Sale.

5. Rhys Patchell (Cardiff Blues to Scarlets)

This is a good piece of business by the Llanelli based side to convince Wales international Patchell to leave rivals Cardiff. Patchell is a versatile back who can slot in at 10 or 15 which will be a boost to Wayne Pivac's side, he will also serve as a replacement to Cardiff Bound Steve Shingler.
