Rugby union salary change paves way for foreign legion

A raft of overseas international stars are set to join top-flight English
rugby clubs next season after significant changes to the salary-cap rules
that may be rubber-stamped this week.



The Aviva Premiership clubs have already agreed in principle to raising the
ceiling of the salary cap that limits their spending on players.

However, a
more significant change is the decision to allow each club to sign an extra
marquee player, whose wages fall outside the salary cap, with the rule
stipulating that the new signing has to come from outside the English game.
