Sharks announce Currie Cup squad

Sharks Head Coach, Robert du Preez has announced the names of 43 players, who have been included in the 2017 Sharks Currie Cup squad.

Amongst the new faces in the squad are new signings, Cameron Wright, Louis Schreuder, Ross Geldenhuys and Tyler Paul. Mzamo Majola, who was on-loan to the Kings during this year’s Super Rugby also makes a welcome return to the squad.


Notable exclusions from the Currie Cup squad are Andre Esterhuizen (Sanix), Lwazi Mvovo (Canon Eagles), Philip van der Walt (Canon Eagles) and Stephan Lewies (Kamaishi Seawaves), all of whom will be playing in Japan during the Currie Cup season. They will return to Durban in January 2018 in time for next year’s Vodacom Super Rugby competition.

Three other players that were ineligible for inclusion are contracted Springboks Beast Mtawarira and Coenie Ooosthuizen and the injured Patrick Lambie.
