Brilliant Bath shine at Rec: Bath laid down a real marker as to their genuine title credentials yesterday, as they put English giants Leicester Tigers to the sword in a 45-0 win at the Recreation Ground. Having had the better of the early stages of the clash, the hosts flew out of the blocks with winger Rokoduguni going over for the game’s opening try, before fellow back line member Jonathan Joseph latched onto a well-timed Kyle Eastmond pass to cross the whitewash for a second five pointer in the opening 25 minutes. After some accurate kicking from flyhalf George Ford, the men from the West Country went in at the break with a comprehensive 23 point lead, with the visitors yet to make ay sort of mark on the game. Sadly for Tigers fans, the encounter continued in much the same vein, with the home side dominating in every facet and consistently finding a way to extend their lead. Tries from Eastmond and replacements Olly Woodburn and Peter Stringer sealed what was a hugely impressive five-point win and complete the 45 point rout of Richard Cockerill’s men.

Scarlets smash Treviso: Having been put to the sword last weekend in their Round 2 encounter, Welsh outfit the Scarlets got their Guinness Pro12 season back on track with a resounding 43-0 win over a dismal Treviso side at Parc Y Scarlets. The opening minute was a clear sign of things to come with home side hooker Emyr Phillips going over the whitewash for the game’s opening score, directly from the kcikoff. After controlling the initial physicality exchanges, Wayne Pivac’s men steadily began extending their lead through both the boot of Welsh out half Rhys Priestland and courtesy of a brace of tries from Priestland’s halfback partner, Gareth Davies. With a 23 point advantage coming into the second half, the hosts were handed yet another opportunity to extend their lead, with Treviso losing no.8 Mat Luamanu to the sin bin. During that ten minute period, Welsh fullback Liam Williams crossed on two occasions, with giant second row Johan Snyman from South Africa also dotting down to further embarrass the visiting men from Italy. The final moment of the 80 minutes was left to centre Gareth Owen who crossed for the seventh try of the game for the West Wales side and seal their first victory of the campaign.
