Super Rugby Preview: Stormers

The Stormers didn’t have a terrible Super Rugby 2016 campaign, but they did not have anything to write home about either.

After the round-robin stages they finished on top of the Africa 1 conference and went on to play the Chiefs in the quarter-finals, where they were beaten 21-60.

They have a strong pack filled with Springboks including new captain Siya Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Frans Malherbe, paired with young talented backs that could turn their Super Rugby fortunes around.

Head coach Robbie Fleck will be boosted with the option of playing speedster Seabelo Senatla, who decided to play Super for the Western Cape franchise, instead of representing the Blitzbokke in the World 7’s Series.

The Stormers will start their 2017 Super Rugby campaign when they host The Bulls at Newlands on Saturday, 25 February.
