27 September 2014As if replacing Johann Muller wasn't a daunting enough task, since arriving Franco van der Merwe has seen both his projected second row partners ruled out for lengthy spells after Irish internationals Iain Henderson and Dan Tuohy underwent surgery.
Thankfully for Ulster, Van Der Merwe looks more than capable of dealing with the pressure and has slotted into their engine room with consummate ease.
The summer signing from the Lions does his best work at the lineout and the resulting mauls off of the set-piece proved to be a real asset against Cardiff last week…
