Top 5 Points Scorers in the Pro 12

As we enter Round 10 of the Pro 12 following the November Internationals. We take a look at the Top 5 points scorers in the Pro12.

  1. Rhys Patchell - Scarlets

After a poor start to the season opening with 3 defeats, the Scarlets have turned the tide and are now on a run of 6 consecutive wins following the slow start. Head Coach Wayne Pivac is hopeful that this new found consistency can catapult the Scarlets into contention for a place in the top 4 come the end of the season. The reliable boot of summer acquisition Rhys Patchell, signed from the Cardiff Blues for the 2016/2017 campaign, has led the resurgence of the Welsh outfit. Patchell has scored 71 points after 9 rounds of the Pro 12. Converting 11 penalties and 19 conversions. In Round 9, the Scarlets man nailed 5 conversions in a 38-29 win over Leinster at the Parc y Scarlets.

 2. Tyler Bleyendaal - Munster

The Munster out half has been instrumental for the side this season. The former Crusaders man has been in fine form since returning from an injury lay off. Bleyendaal has become a potent force with Ireland international scrum-half Conor Murray supplying ball from the base of the ruck. Kicking 5 penalties and 21 conversions for a total of 57 points, Munster are sitting at the summit of the Pro12 table after 9 rounds entering into the festive period. With Glasgow, Leinster and Ulster in the coming weeks, Bleyendaal will need to retain his form in order to keep Munster firmly inside the top 4.

  1. Isa Nacewa - Leinster

The Leinster captain has been indispensable to the side this season. His leadership and versatility across the back three has led Leinster into second place in the Pro 12 table. Nacewa has scored three tries this season; including a brace against Munster at the Aviva Stadium in October. His laser like accuracy off the tee has been called upon this season due to the absences of Johnny Sexton. Nacewa has slotted 5 penalties and 13 conversions this season, resulting in 56 points.

  1. Steve Shingler – Cardiff Blues

The Cardiff Blues out-half has played in every game for the side this season. With the Blues currently sitting outside the Top 4, they will need to regain some momentum on the leaders. Shingler has settled quickly into the Blues set up after moving from Welsh rivals Llanelli Scarlets last season. His adaptation has led to a solitary try, 11 penalty goals and 8 conversions leading to 54 points for the domestic season. A productive start to his Cardiff Blues career.

  1. Sam Davies - Ospreys

The Ospreys fly-half has been a member of the Welsh squad for the recent Autumn Internationals. His performances this season for the Welsh side have been telling with 82% kick success to date; leading to 51 points making him the fifth top point’s scorer in the Pro12 this season, averaging over 10 points per match. He has contributed 5 penalties and 18 conversions, showing his ability off the kicking tee. Davies also leads the league in assists, making 6 to date. He has recently committed his future to the Ospreys, signing a new long-term deal.
