Top 5 Premiership signings

Top 5 Premiership signings

The Aviva Premiership gets underway this coming weekend and with more money in the game then ever before, there has been some high profile moves into the league.

In total the league has welcomed 106 players between the clubs, with Newcastle Falcons being the busiest welcoming 14 players.

Here we rank the top 5 moves in the league.

1. Schalk Burger (Stormers to Saracens)

An excellent piece of business by the Champions Cup & Aviva Premiership winners. Burger proved last year at the World Cup despite his age he still had the ability to compete at the highest level. A good guy to have around the club and will fit in with the Saracens SA contingent.

2. Louis Picamoles (Toulouse to Northampton)

A superb addition to the Saints side. It was clear to see that Jim Mallinder's side lacked physicallity last season after the departure of Samu Manoa to Toulon and lacked depth in the back row, Picamoles will tick those 2 boxes for Northampton. Really clever business and will suit English rugby.

3. Ben Te'o (Leinster to Worcester Warriors)

In a some what suprising move, Te'o made the switch from the Irish province and went straight into Eddie Jones' England squad for the tour of Australia. After a solid season back in the Premiership, Warriors have added a bruiser of a centre in Te'o and a talented half back in Francois Hougaard. Not bad from the Warriors.

4. Taulupe Faletau (Newport Gwent Dragons to Bath)

After much speculation, Faletau eventually left the PRO 12 side and joined Bath. The number 8, who decided to turn down a WRU central contract, has proved he is one of the best in the northern hemisphere and adds to a an already talented back row at Bath.

5. Kurtley Beale (NSW Waratahs to Wasps)

Wasps have recruited excellently ahead of 2016/17 season, adding 13 players such as Danny Cipriani, Kyle Eastmond and Wille Le Roux, but the signing of Australian international Kurtley Beale is the one that has caught our eye. A household name in rugby, Wasps have done extremely well to add Beale to their side. A negative is his injury, but here's hoping we see him out on the pitch sooner rather than later.
