Williams to stay with the Tigers

It was announced that to the delight of Leicester Tigers that Flyhalf Owen Williams has agreed on a new contract. The Welshman has come on leaps and bounds since his move to Welford Road 18 months ago and has now cemented his place as the clubs first choice Flyhalf with recent signing Freddie Burns only able to settle for a place on the bench. The rumours that were circulating  was that Williams was set to return to the Scarlets on a dual contract with the WRU with reports that Rhys Priestland is set to leave the Welshside for Bath. However the rumours have been cut short with the announcement is that Williams is going to stay on with the Tigers. With Williams continuing to perform so well for the Tigers it remains to be seen whether he will get the call from Warren Gatland for the upcoming Six Nations campaign but it shows that the WRU have been impressed with him with dual contract’s only offered to players who have been capped by Wales. With Williams only 22 there is no doubt he will wear the red of Wales someday.

Tuilagi doubt for Wales game

With England’s first game in the Six Nations a month away it remains to be seen if Manu Tuilagi will be fit enough as he continues his recovery from a groin injury. The Leicester Tigers man has been missing since he suffered the injury against Ulster in the European Champions Cup and with Leicester coach Stuart Cockerill  saying he will make his comeback this month the game away to Wales in early February may come too soon. Whether Stuart Lancaster will risk playing him remains to be seen but after missing most of the Six Nations campaign last year the English coach knows how important Tuilagi is to the side and may just throw him into the side for the opening game.
