Twickenham residents draw the line at football, Vince Cable tells Chelsea


Vince Cable, the MP for Twickenham, has described Chelsea’s interest in using
the national rugby stadium as “an unwelcome step” in a letter to the RFU
this week.



Chelsea are exploring the possibility of using the stadium in West London as
their temporary home, should they decide to redevelop Stamford Bridge.

Cable
has sought clarification from the RFU in a letter to Ian Ritchie, the chief
executive, of which the content has now been made public.



“Were there substance in the story, it would be worrying for two reasons,”
