Villains of the weekend

Lionel Beauxis

Lionel Beauxis will to want forget the weekend in a hurry. With the final play of the game he was given the opportunity to send Bordeaux to the play-offs with a simple enough kick in front of the posts. However the former Toulouse manager failed to hit the target and as a result Bordeaux failed to make it to the play-offs and will now have to contest a Champions Cup play-off with Gloucester next weekend.

Roman Poite

Connacht fans will not want to see the sight of Roman Poite for a while after he cost them a potential place in next seasons Champions Cup. With Connacht leading by 7 with a minute left on the clock he awarded Gloucester a penalty for what we are still trying to figure out what for. Gloucester were able to retain possession with the penalty and were able to score a try with the final play of the game to force extra time. Connacht battled throughout in extra time but in the end were undone by two Gloucester tries.

Rhys Webb

It may seem a bit harsh to call Rhys Webb a villain after such an impressive season for the Ospreys but unfortunately it was his knock on that cost Ospreys a place in the Pro12 final. With the TMO being used more and more in Rugby today, Nigel Owens let play continue after suspicions of Webb losing the ball forward and Webb must have thought he had gotten away with it but the TMO confirmed doubts Owens might have had and as a result ended Ospreys season.
