Vakhtang Abdaladze, born on 6 February 1996, is an exceptional rugby union player known for his prowess as a tighthead prop. Although born in Kutaisi, Georgia, Abdaladze was raised in Ireland, where his family settled in the Dublin suburb of Blanchardstown.

Initially more interested in football, he discovered his passion for rugby at the age of 12 and began playing for Coolmine RFC as a centre under the guidance of his father, Nick, who had previously represented the Georgia national rugby union team as a number 8.

Abdaladze's transition to prop occurred when he joined Clontarf F.C., where his coaches recognized his physical attributes and potential in the front row. Despite missing out on an academy place after leaving school, Abdaladze combined full-time studies at Dublin City University with his commitment to the sub-academy.

His impressive performances in the All-Ireland League (AIL) for Clontarf F.C. caught the attention of Leinster Rugby, resulting in his late addition to the academy in the middle of the 2017-18 season, at the age of nearly 22. Within a short period, he made his senior team debut and was rewarded with his first senior contract ahead of the 2018-19 season. Abdaladze marked his second appearance for Leinster with a try against Zebre, showcasing his versatility and impact.

Abdaladze's talents were also recognized at the international level. Although initially overlooked for the Ireland U-20s, he eventually earned a spot in the Ireland squad for the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Championship. In this tournament, Ireland achieved their best-ever placing as runners-up, and Abdaladze played a significant role in the historic victory over the New Zealand U-20s.

In 2022, Abdaladze made his international debut for Georgia, coming off the bench against Uruguay in the end-of-year rugby union internationals. This marked the beginning of his journey representing his native country at the senior level.

Known for his adaptability, transitioning from an inside-centre to a tighthead prop, Abdaladze's rise in the rugby world has been remarkable. With his solid performances and contributions to Leinster Rugby and the Georgia national team, he has demonstrated his skill, determination, and commitment to the sport. As he continues to progress in his career, Abdaladze's presence in the scrum and his versatility as a player make him a valuable asset to his teams.
