"For me, it was always a dream job." - Munster's Ged McNamara

Munster’s head of Athletic Performance Ged McNamara recently spoke to the club’s official podcast, The Crooked Feed, about his new role.

McNamara’s appointment at Munster is a fairly recent one after working with the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy Lead Athletic Development as well as the Georgian national team up to the 2019 World Cup.

“It [his new role] entails a lot of stuff at the moment with the way things are going. So basically on a day-to-day, my job is to make sure that the athletic performance of the team is supplying the demand of what the game is needed, what the training is needed and what the rugby programme requires.

“It’s making sure that we’re fully aligned up, making sure that what we’re doing in the gym is going to make us a better rugby player or what we’re doing on the field is influencing some of our physiological characteristics as well. So basically it’s just making sure that all of the components of an S&C programme are aligned with the demands of a rugby programme.”
