What started off as a slow game, with two tries within three minutes of each other being reversed due to obstructions, turned out to be a closer game than originally thought. The Hurricanes had the considerable lead at the halftime break and the Highlanders had it all to play for with no points on the board. The Highlanders took their time in getting their first points but eventually got a try and two penalties in, but it was too little too late as the Hurricanes' lead proved too much for the Highlanders to overcome. The Hurricanes take the victory 17-11!
