Jason O'Halloran

28th Feb 1972 1.84m/89kg Coach

Known as an unsung hero in his playing days, O'Halloran had a 9 year professional playing career - featuring for Wellington and the Hurricanes mainly.

O'Halloran was a member of a dazzling Hurricanes back line, sproadically captaining the side. He was known for being an astute tactician in the backline and chipped in for 17 tries in his Super Rugby career.

At 28 years of age, O'Halloran was awarded an All Black cap after coming on as a substitute against Italy in 2000 but failed to add to that total in his playing career.

In 2002, he moved to Japanese side Kubota Spears and eventually took a coaching role up with the side.

After 2 years coaching in Japan and a stint as the Manawatu Turbos performance manager, O'Halloran was promoted to the top job as Manawatu Turbos head coach in 2011.

In 2015, the former centre left his role as Manawatu boss and linked up with Vern Cotter to become the Scotland backs coach ahead of the 2015 RWC.

Jason O’Halloran joined Dave Rennie's coaching team at Glasgow Warriors ahead of the 2017/18 season.

O'Halloran and Rennie know each other well, going back all the way to 2000 when Jason won the ITM Cup playing for Wellington when Dave was his Head Coach.

Simultaneously the pair coached the New Zealand U20s to two Junior World Championship titles in 2010 and 2011.
