Robert Leota, born on March 3, 1997, is an Australian professional rugby union player who currently represents the Melbourne Rebels in Super Rugby. He also plays for the Australian national team in international rugby. Leota primarily plays as a flanker and Number 8.

Leota attended Thornbury High School, where he likely developed his rugby skills. He made his debut for the Melbourne Rebels in a match against the Crusaders, coming on as a replacement in a challenging defeat at AMI Stadium.

In 2021, Leota received a significant opportunity when he was selected to represent Australia in the Rugby Championship match against South Africa. He made his test debut during the 74th minute of the game, which Australia won 28-26 against the reigning World Cup champions.

Before his professional career, Leota showcased his talent in youth rugby competitions. He was a key member of the Australian Men's Youth Sevens team in 2015, where they secured a silver medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games. This experience exposed him to international rugby and its offerings. The following year, he was named in the Australian U20s squad for the World Rugby U20s Championship held in Manchester.

Leota's journey with the Melbourne Rebels began in May 2016 when he joined the team and signed a contract until 2019. He made his debut later that year in a match against the Crusaders in Christchurch.

His exceptional performances in 2019 earned him a contract extension with the Rebels, committing him to the team until the end of 2021. This re-signing further solidified his place within the Rebels' roster and showcased the club's belief in his abilities.

As Leota continues to develop and excel in his rugby career, he aims to make valuable contributions to the Melbourne Rebels and represent Australia at the international level.

Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Leota has been named in the training squad for Australia.
