Match Facts

Saracens have won three of their last four games against Munster in the Heineken Champions Cup, this after losing each of their first four clashes in the tournament prior to that run.

Saracens and Munster have met twice before in the semi-final of the Heineken Champions Cup, Munster winning 18-16 in 2007/08 before Saracens secured a 26-10 victory in 2016/17; on each occasion the winning side went on to lift the trophy.

Saracens have reached the semi-final stage of the Heineken Champions Cup for the sixth time in the last seven seasons, progressing to the final from three of their last four appearances at this stage.

Munster are appearing in the semi-finals of the Heineken Champions Cup for the 14th time, more than any other side (W4, L9); however, they’ve lost each of their last six appearances at this stage, last progressing to the final in 2007/08 thanks to victory over Saracens.

Saracens have averaged more points (34.4) and tries (4.3) per game than any other side in the Heineken Champions Cup this season.

Munster have averaged fewer metres (280) and breaks (5) per game than any other side in the Heineken Champions Cup this season, partly due to having averaged the most kicks in play of any side (25).

Saracens’ Alex Goode and Munster’s CJ Stander are two of five players to have played the maximum 560 minutes in the Heineken Champions Cup this season.

Munster’s CJ Stander has made more tackles (112) than any other player in the Heineken Champions Cup this season, he is also one of just three players to make 100+ carries (100, also Viliame Mata 141, James Ryan 103).

Saracens and England hooker, Jamie George, has found a team mate with 94% of this lineout throws in the Champions Cup this season (80/85), the best rate of any of the 16 players to take 30+ throws.
