Camille Lopez's new club confirmed as Clermont rebuild continues

Camille Lopez will leave Clermont after eight years and over 150 appearances for the Top 14 club at the end of the season.

The experienced flyhalf, who has played 28 tests for France, joins PROD2 club Bayonne ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Lopez has signed a two-year deal with his new side that hope to regain their Top 14 status this season and currently sit third on the overall standings.

The 32-year-old joined Clermont from Perpignan in 2014 and helped the side to a Top 14 title in 2017 and a Challenge Cup trophy in 2019.

Morgan Parra is also set to leave Clermont to join Stade Francais at the end of the season. Former Munster flyhalf JJ Hanrahan is also rumoured to be leaving the club and won't be offered a contract extension.

Clermont head coach Jono Gibbes looks to be stamping his mark on the club, having taken over from long time head coach Frank Azema. The Club are ranked seventh overall on the standings but are just four points behind fourth-placed Castres with a game in hand.

Toulon flyhalf Anthony Belleau has committed to Clermont ahead of next season, as has La Rochelle flyhalf Jules Plisson.
