Friday Night's Star Performers

Friday Night's Star Performers

As we settled back into the official start of domestic rugby in the Northern Hemisphere, we got off to a flyer with a shock win from Gloucester over Exeter & a thrilling game between Ulster & the Cheetahs in Belfast. Here are the 4 players who caught our eye tonight with their individual performances.

Jeremy Thrush v Exeter

What a night for the Cherry Whites & what a performance from lock Jeremy Thrush. The former All Black was monumental to Gloucester's first half performance with his two tries.

Thrush worked hard around the field making 11 carries & 6 tackles before making way for Ed Slater after 56 minutes.

Sam Simmonds v Gloucester

Probably unlucky to be on the loosing side tonight based on his individual performance. Simmonds was on fire tonight scoring 2 tries, making a monumental 18 carries, beating 5 defenders & making 3 clean breaks.

Not only in attack did Simmonds put in a shift, as he also worked endlessly in defence with a staggering 14 tackles. One to watch for the season.

Andrew Conway v Treviso

Conway took home the MOTM accolade tonight as Munster defeated Treviso 34-3 at Independent Park in Cork. Conway topped the metres gained with 125 while also making 12 carries, beating 4 defenders & makng 2 clean breaks.

Conway was rewarded for his hard work with a try just before half time. Onwards & upwards for Munster!

Jean Deysel v Cheetahs

Life in an Ulster shirt couldn't of started better for the flanker, as his side ran riot in a 42-19 win over the Cheetahs. Deysel's physicality was huge, especially going forward where he made 14 carries. Also his work rate was of note, leaving Ulster fans liking what they saw.
