Highlights: Japan v Scotland - Rugby World Cup 2019

Japan progressed to the Quarter-Finals of the Rugby World Cup for the first time as they held on for a 28-21 win over Scotland to bring the pool round of play to a close. Scotland got off to the perfect start, with an early try giving them a 7-0 lead. However, the remainder of the first half belonged to the host nation, as they dominated both territory and possession to run in three tries to take a 21-7 advantage into the halftime break. Japan started the second half as they ended the first, going over for their fourth try to extend the lead to 28-7. Scotland needed a response and came storming back with two tries in quick succession to reduce the deficit to just seven points heading into the final quarter. A thrilling final 20 minutes ensued, with Scotland throwing everything they had at Japan, but the brave blossoms stood firm and would not be denied a historic victory which sees them remain unbeaten to top Pool A and set up a Quarter-Final showdown with South Africa.
