JWC: Australia boss pleased with Italy win
Australia’s bonus point victory over Italy was a very satisfactory return for U20 coach Adrian Thompson after triumphing over the U20 World Championship hosts on Saturday.

The five-pointer keeps Australia right on the heels of South Africa ahead of their epic clash this Wednesday in Calvisano.

The top spot in Pool B is on the line for both sides with Thompson crediting the forwards for their efforts in the 47-7 win.

With South Africa’s pack holding such a fierce reputation in the competition, Australia’s forwards will have to step up yet again on Wednesday if they are to defeat last year’s finalists.

“It's pleasing that we were able to finish the first half as strongly as we did allowing us to claim the bonus point win,” said Thompson.

“The forwards did an excellent job in tough conditions which allowed us to give the backs momentum moving forwards."
