Kurtley Beale Stars In Waratahs' Win

We pick our Top Performers as the Waratahs claimed the 2nd biggest comeback in Super Rugby playoff history against the Highlanders.

Kurtley Beale

Beale started the comeback for the Waratahs when he broke through and made a superb offload for Foley's first try of the game.
He combined well with Foley again before putting Israel Folau through for his try as the Waratahs scored three quick tries to take the lead with 20 minutes left to play.

The mastermind behind the comeback made 54 running metres beating 2 defenders, made 2 clean breaks and claimed two try assists.

Rob Thompson


Another strong performance by Rob Thompson who has been superb all year for the Highlanders.

He run clever lines, was strong in defence and was one of the best Highlanders on the park. 


He beat a game high of 7 defenders and gained 77 running metres.

Bernard Foley

Foley linked up well with Folau and Beale as they the Waratahs scored 24 unanswered points.

The Wallaby flyhalf beat set a new personal record of 25 points in one match and was heavily involved in the Waratahs comeback scoring two tries.

Tom Staniforth

The younger second rower made a massive impact off the bench making a joint game high of 15 tackles.

He also carried the ball 8 times in 50 minutes. His work at the lineout and breakdown was crucial to the Waratahs win.
