Samoan scrumhalf Fotuali'i set for Top 14 switch

Montpellier head coach Vern Cotter has moved closer to completing his squad for next season with the signing of Bath and Samoan scrumhalf Kahn Fotuali'i, according to L'Equipe.

Fotuali'i has been brought in to cover for the loss of Ruan Pienaar who has been granted an early release to the leave the club.

Fotuali'i joins the like of Guilhem Guirado, Handre Pollard and Anthony Bouthier who all join the club ahead of the new season. 

The 36-year-old scrumhalf was released by Bath at the end of the season and could still feature for Samoa at the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

According to the report, Wallaby forward Caleb Timu will also join the club from the Queensland Reds.


Timu played rugby league for the Broncos before signing for the Reds and making his test debut against Ireland in June last year.

Former Pau prop, Jamie Mackintosh also joins the club as World Cup cover while Jannie Du Plessis and Aaron Cruden will remain at the club during the World Cup before du Plessis joins the coaching the staff while Cruden will be released.
