Six Nations: Gatland welcomes back three Lions for Ireland clash

Wales head coach Warren Gatland has made three changes to his side that faced England in Round 2 of the Natwest Six Nations.

Lions trio Leigh Halfpenny, Dan Biggar & Liam Williams return to the starting XV in place of Josh Adams, Rhys Patchell & Gareth Anscombe.

Fly-half Dan Biggar, who missed the opening Six Nations games against Scotland and England due to a shoulder injury, replaces Rhys Patchell in the number 10 shirt.

George North has to settle for the No. 23 shirt while Worcester wing Josh Adams misses out completely on the match-day squad.

There is no place in the match squad for Bath number eight Taulupe Faletau, who was declared fit on Monday.

The pack is unchanged from the Twickenham clash, an all-Scarlet front row leads the way but it is Alun Wyn Jones who will captain the side once again.

“It is great to be able to bring so much experience back into the starting XV and into the backline, it's the first week we have had everyone in the ‘green’ in terms of availability which is a nice luxury to have and a positive ahead of what is a very important test match against a very good Ireland side.” - Warren Gatland
