Six Nations Countdown: Day 1 - The best tries from 2022

Six Nations Countdown: Day 1 - The best tries from 2022

The 2023 Six Nations is finally upon us and players and supporters alike are raring to go.

Much like recent years, the 2023 instalment promises to be ultra-competitive as Europe’s finest dish it out to each other in front of vociferous, capacity crowds.

In the quiet before the storm, Ireland and France appear neck-&-neck in terms of the ‘favourites’ label while much interest will surround the performances of England and Wales, who have both undergone significant coaching shake-ups in recent weeks. Within the English borders, there seems, generally, to be good confidence and optimism with regard to the abilities of Steve Borthwick while the experience of new Wales boss, Warren Gatland, speaks for itself.

The Six Nations is vital in terms of confidence and mindset in a World Cup year and every loss will be sorely felt by the team receiving it while every victory will be cherished by those who earn it.

While Ireland have grown into something quite formidable under Andy Farrell, the main topic of conversation around them is their dependence on the enviable skills and stewardship of Johnny Sexton (who turns 38 this year) on the pitch in the number 10 jersey. With this in mind, it will be interesting to see what kind of selection and player management Farrell employs so as to create some depth in the flyhalf channel while, at the same time, seeking consecutive victories against their Six Nations opponents and making sure Sexton goes the distance to the World Cup.

With the wait nearly over, we turn our attention to some of the best tries of last year’s competition, in the hope that this year will bring more of the same excitement and all-round fantastic rugby for which the Six Nations is known:
