Super Rugby Aotearoa Round 8 Highlights: Chiefs vs Crusaders
The table topping Crusaders bounced back from their first defeat with a 32-19 away win over the Chiefs in round 8 of Super Rugby Aotearoa. The Crusaders started superbly, running in two early tries to build a 12-0 lead. The Chiefs hit back with their first score and a penalty shortly after reduced the deficit to just two points. The Chiefs picked up a yellow card just before the break, with the Crusaders capitalizing on their numerical advantage immediately with their third try to take a 17-10 advantage into the second half. The battle of the boot dominated the opening portion of the second half, with the Chiefs slotting three successful penalties to just the one of the Crusaders as the hosts trailed by only a single point 20-19. A controversial try on the hour mark saw the Crusaders regain control of the match making it a two score ball game. The Crusaders then ran in their fifth try of the match five minutes later to take the game away from a gallant Chiefs side who still remain without a win in the competition.
