The Queensland Reds finished the regular season of Super Rugby AU on a high with a 26-7 home win over the Brumbies. It was a battle of the top two sides, with the Reds guaranteed a play-off match against the Rebels with the Brumbies having secured top spot on the log and a place in the Final. The Reds got off to an ideal start, with an early try giving them a 5-0 lead. The Reds kept the scoreboard ticking over, slotting two penalties before running in a late first half try to extend their advantage out to 18-0. The Brumbies would get on the board with a try with the final play of the first half to give themselves some hope at the break. The second half turned into an arm wrestle with neither side able to gain much ascendancy. The Reds made it a 14 point ball game with a penalty 15 minutes from time and would put the final nail in the coffin with a late try wrapping up the match.
