Rusiate Tuima

21st May 2000 1.95m/124kg No. 8

Rus Tuima is an emerging talent in English rugby, hailing from an impressive rugby pedigree. With his uncle, Akapusi Qera, boasting 65 caps for Fiji, his sister, Lagi Tuima, representing England internationally, and his cousin, Joe Cokanasiga, having played at a Rugby World Cup, it was no surprise that rugby was in his blood.

Born in Suva, Fiji, Tuima moved to England at a young age and quickly made a name for himself in the rugby world. He honed his skills through the Ivybridge AASE program and Exeter College, excelling at both the U18 and U20 levels. As a dynamic and powerful back rower, Tuima caught the attention of the Exeter Chiefs.

He gained valuable experience playing for the Exeter Braves and on dual-registered terms with Plymouth Albion in the National League. In 2019, Tuima made his debut for the Chiefs in a Premiership Rugby Cup match against Bath at Sandy Park. Since then, he has made his full Premiership debut, impressing as a substitute against Wasps at the Ricoh Arena in January 2021.

With strong performances on the field, Tuima has earned his place in the Chiefs' selection plans under the guidance of head coach Rob Baxter. In the 2022/23 season, he will continue his development by featuring for the Cornish Pirates on dual-registered terms, gaining valuable game time and further refining his skills.

As a rising star in the rugby world, Rus Tuima is poised to make a significant impact in the future, leveraging his natural talent, family legacy, and determination to succeed at the highest level of the game.
