Despite growing up in Brigstock, near Corby – before a move to Rutland as a teenager – Cormac Calnan describes himself as ‘Irish at heart’.
A county cricketer and successful hockey player with his school, Cormac also took up football at a young age and first played rugby at age nine.
He started his rugby career in the half-backs then settled at centre while progressing through Tigers’ DPP centres at Stamford and Stoneygate, and then joining the Tigers Academy in 2019/20.
He was part of an England Rugby Under-18 North development camp during October 2020.
