A formidable ball carrier, Hurrell also represented London Welsh, Leicester Tigers, Coventry, Bedford Blues and Doncaster.

He was capped by the England U20s after having spent much of his time at Leicester on loan to Coventry, Bedford Blues and Doncaster Knights. He is the younger brother of former Coventry and Leicester Tigers lock forward Rob Hurrell.

The strong, ball-carrying centre showed his top flight quality with a number of stand-out performances for Bristol in the Aviva Premiership (2016-17). In July 2016, the center agreed terms to join Bristol Rugby in the Premiership from the Doncaster Knights and has been at the club ever since, apart from a short loan spell with Bath in 2018.

A fan’s favourite at Ashton Gate, Hurrell made 68 appearances during his four seasons with the club before he announced that will retire from professional rugby with immediate effect, following medical advice, in April 2020.

The centre suffered a probable stroke following the Gallagher Premiership clash versus Leicester Tigers on Saturday, January 5th.
