The skilful centre's promise was spotted at an early age and he appeared for both the England Under-18 and Under-19 teams while at Millfield School. Allen spent some time at the Harlequins academy, but instead started his professional career with Gloucester. He is recognised as one of the leading midfield players in England, but injuries and loss of format the wrong times have limited his chances in the national setup. However, the Leicester Tigers ace could still form a strong English midfield pairing with Manu Tuilagi, much like they do at the Tigers.Being strong on both defence and attack there should be no reason why Allen's name wouldn't come up at any English selection meeting.
