During the 2013–14 season, Hepburn had a stint with London Welsh in the RFU Championship. He then returned to his hometown of Perth in 2014 and joined Cottesloe Rugby Club.

In January 2015, Hepburn made the move to Exeter Chiefs. He was part of the team that reached the final of the 2015–16 Premiership but lost to Saracens. The following season, Exeter Chiefs emerged victorious in the Premiership final against Wasps, claiming their first Premiership title.

However, Hepburn was unable to play in the final due to injury.

With over 150 first-team appearances, he continues to be a regular and influential player in the Chiefs' match-day plans. Hepburn's strength in the set-piece and his ability to make impactful runs on the field are key attributes that enhance his game.

In 2020, he played a crucial role in Exeter Chiefs' triumph in both the Gallagher Premiership and the Heineken Champions Cup, featuring in the finals held at Bristol's Ashton Gate and Twickenham Stadium, respectively.
