James Moore, born on 11 June 1993, is an Australian-born Japanese rugby union player who plays as a lock. He represents Japan at the international level.
Moore began his rugby career in Australia, moving to Melbourne in 2013 to join the Queensland Reds' U20s team. He then returned to his home state and played for Easts Tigers for two years, where he was part of the dominant Premier Rugby team in the 2015 season. His performances caught the attention of the selectors, and he earned a spot in the Brisbane City side, playing alongside Adam Korczyk.
In 2017, Moore signed with Toshiba Brave Lupus in the Japanese Top League. He also made his debut for the Sunwolves in Super Rugby, further showcasing his abilities on the field.
His consistent performances in Japan led to his inclusion in the wider Japanese squad. Eventually, Moore earned his international debut for Japan in the 2019 Pacific Nations Cup. He was subsequently named in Japan's 31-man squad for the Rugby World Cup and has represented the national team seven times.
As of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Japan has reached the quarter-finals, with Moore contributing to their success.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Moore has been named in the training squad for Japan.
