Lazar has developed a reputation of being solid in the set-piece and physical around the field, resulting in him playing over 70 games for French club side Castres and knocking on the door of 50 international appearances for Romania. Lazar made his debut for Romania in 2008 against Czech Republic and went on to feature in three matches at the 2011 World Cup.
In 2015 added to his Romanian caps when he selected for the 31-man squad for the 2015 World Cup.
2017 saw him being named in the Romania squad that would compete at the 2017 Rugby Europe Championship.
