Ben Matwijow

14th Feb 1990 1.97m/117kg No 4 Lock

The ITM Cup-winning Canterbury lock was secured by the Queensland Reds for the 2016 Super Rugby season.

Matwijow joined the Reds as cover for Wallabies lock Kane Douglas, who suffered a knee injury in the Rugby World Cup final in London.

He (Matwijow) has previous training experience with the Melbourne Rebels (2012) and Western Force (2013), featuring in the latter’s match against the touring British & Irish Lions.

He joined Canterbury ahead of the 2015 season in order to further develop his game.

In an effort to boost their second row depth, the Force signed Matwijow on a one-year deal for the 2016/17 season after 11 caps with the Reds.
