Brian Gleeson joined the Munster Academy in the summer of 2023 after the powerful back-row forward came up through the ranks at Thurles RFC and Rockwell College and was involved in Munster underage sides for a number of years.

Gleeson was still eligible for the Ireland U19s in 2021/22 but earned a place in the Ireland U20s side for the 6 Nations and was a standout performer as they clinched the Grand Slam, winning two Player of the Match awards.

He then helped the Ireland U20s to the final of the Junior World Championship.

Featured for Garryowen in Division 1A of the AIL throughout 2022/23 and has also represented Tipperary in hurling at underage level.

Made his Munster debut against Sharks in the opening game of the 2023/24 season.

Gleeson was also part of the Ireland Squad for the 2024 U20s World Championship in South Africa, leading the team out against England after fellow clubman, team mate and captain Evan O’Connell sustained an injury during the Georgia match.

After 10 senior appearances in his first year of the Academy, Gleeson was promoted to the senior squad on a two-year deal.

Returned to action against Castres in December 2024 after recovering from a shoulder injury.
